Already, Beijing 2008 has assembled the most lucrative collection of sponsors in Olympic history. Its multinational sponsors include General Electric, McDonald’s, Visa, Samsung, Volkswagen, Adidas, Johnson & Johnson, Kodak, and Manulife.
In the four years leading up to 2008, eleven international sponsors have shelled out $866 million. In addition, many of China’s largest companies, such as China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec Group, and Bank of China, are also serving as sponsors for the Games meaning that these Olympics will attract over $1 billion from sponsors.
For many athletes who have trained tirelessly over the last four years, they will come back from these Games as winners, with gold medals around their necks; likewise, all the businesses and enterprises that have invested in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing will emerge from these Games as big winners.
